An Irish racing day to remember: Walsh and Mullins take four out of four as the Irish almost make it a clean sweep on day three of Cheltenham

It was the perfect day for the Irish at Cheltenham as Wille Mullins and Ruby Walsh took the spoils in what was almost a clean sweep for the Irish at the famous venue.

The day got off to the perfect start for both as Yorkhill ridden by Walsh and trained by Mullins took the JLT Novices’ Chase as 6/4F.

The afternoon got even better for the Irish when Presenting Percy trained by Patrick Kelky and rode by Davey Russell took the second race of the day Pertemps Final Handicap Hurdle at 11/1 on.

The winning streak got more heated in the third when Mullins came out on top when Un De Sceaux 7/4F rode by Walsh took the Ryanair chase ahead of Michael O’Leary’s Sub Lieutenant trained by H De Bromhead in a close affair.

Mullins and Walsh once again combined to take the fourth race of the day when Nichols Canyon 10/1 took the Ryanair World Hurdle.

The glorious streak continued when Road To Respect 14/1 trained by Noel Meade and rode by Barry Cooper took the Festival Group Plate.

Walsh and Mullins then made it four out of four to cap the perfect day by taking the Mares Novices’ Hurdle wit the 11/8F Let’s Dance.

The day wrapped up with the Queen’s 40/1 Doomsday Book taking the final race of the day, the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Handicap Chase.
