The death toll across Irish roads keeps rising at a steady pace so far this year.
A 60-year-old man died last night after the vehicle he was driving struck a wall in Galway city.
The accident occurred at around 10pm at the Liosban Industrial Estate in the city.
The man survived the initial impact but later died at University College Hospital Galway.
Gardai sources have confirmed that 17 people lost their lives, including 7 pedestrians, over the Christmas period.
