A doctoral candidate at University of Maryland who was attempting to prove that America’s criminal justice system was racist against “young black offenders” and “black drug offenders” has been stabbed to death by a black man while visiting Chicago for research.

Anat Kimchi, a 31-year-old woman and Israeli-born doctoral candidate, scholar and anti-racism activist visiting Chicago over the weekend, Kimchi was reportedly ambushed and stabbed in the back and neck while walking near a homeless encampment at 401 South Wacker at around 3:35 p.m.

CWB Chicago reported that the suspect was identified by witnesses as a “slim black male with long dreadlocks who wore a red bandana and a blue tank top.”

Most major media outlets in the United States have hid the suspect’s description in accordance with their new rules against “amplifying narratives that connect Black and brown communities to crime” with the exception of CWB Chicago.

Chicago continues to see spiralling violence crime with over 50 people shot on Father’s Day weekend, almost of which were the result of black and on black crime.
