According to new figures to be published later today the number of people sleeping rough in Dublin has alarmingly increased by 40% in the past seven months alone.
The latest figures compiled by the Dublin Region Homeless Executive (DRHE) also show that homelessness across the capital has increased by 50% this year.
The DRHE say that in total 140 individuals were found to be sleeping on the streets and in doorways in Dublin last week. The new figures which makes for grim reading marks an increase from last spring when there were 102 found sleeping rough during April.
It also compares to this time last year when in total 91 were sleeping rough during the month of November.
