Archeologists have reportedly discovered a number of Spanish Armada ships containing a number of relics off the coast of Ireland.

It is believed that a number of severe weather storms over the past two years has led archeologists to the discovery. It is understood that a number of cannons from the merchant vessel La Juliana have been discovered off the coast of Streedagh in Co Sligo. Leading archeologists say the guns date back as far back to 1588 and have remained in excellent condition.
The two guns have since been recovered from the seabed, experts say the discovery is a significant one as the ship could have come from ancient Catalonia.

Archeologists believe two other vessels from the Armada may have sank in violent storms in the area in September 1588, La Lavia and the Santa Maria de Vision, with more than 1,000 soldiers and mariners drowning when they went down. Archeologists say the vessels still remain concealed and protected by layers of sand which has moved over the last number of years.

The government has already taken steps to setup a security operation to protect the valuable shipwreck sites from being explored by possible treasure hunters.
