A top architect has unveiled plans to build a bridge between Ireland and Scotland.
The so-called ‘Celtic Bridge’ would span the distance between the two islands and cost about £15bn to build.
The architect, Professor Alan Dunlop, proposes a combined sea and suspension railway/road bridge, similar to the one that connects Denmark and Sweden across the Oresund Strait.
Mr. Dunlop favors the construction of a surface bridge over building a tunnel, citing costs and engineering challenges.
