Are we all really better off now? St. Vincent de Paul has visited 140,000 families this year thus far

Despite boastful claims by the Government that we’re all “better off”, the reality on the ground is one of need and desperation.

St. Vincent de Paul has made 140,000 house calls this year so far, which would seem to clearly contradict the Government’s fantasist claims.

And these thousands of personal visits do not include the people calling in to SVP outlets on a daily basis.

The association is experiencing a high level of demand for help with food, clothes, furniture, household bills and school costs. And Christmas is traditionally one of the busiest times of year.

With the homelessness situation out of control, and the desperation felt by many across the country, the Government should consider its position as it is becoming increasingly untenable.
