The so-called Black Friday is almost upon us. And Irish shoppers are expected to spend about €109m on discounted goods come tomorrow.
The marketing trick will surely bring about a windfall for retailers just ahead of Christmas. The downside of it is though, most of this cash will be spent elsewhere as a great majority (1 in 4, in fact) of Irish SMEs do not have a website or cannot process payments online.
Online retailers in the UK and further afield are likely to get the most out of this spending spree, with electronic goods at the top of most people’s list.
So if you have a bit of spare cash lying around, get ready, cause the shopping onslaught begins at midnight tonight.
