As the election steamroller rumbles into life, it has been confirmed that Joan Burton’s security detail will be strenghthened by armed gardai elements, who will escort her all along the campaign trail
Current arrangements stipulate that the Taoiseach, Tanaiste, Minister for Justice, President, Director of Public Prosecution and the Garda Commissioner are all given Garda drivers.
But given the current climate of ongoing protests and backlash against the Labour party in particular, it was considered necessary to provide Ms. Burton with additional security.
