There will be a special ceremony in Co Kerry today that will see around 2,400 people being conferred with Irish citizenship.
In a special ceremony to be held in Killarney, those obtaining citizenship will pledge an oath of loyalty to the nation and will officially become members of the state.
It is expected that the Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan will be in attendance to welcome Ireland’s newest citizens.
The ceremony is the eight such ceremony to be held since 2011 and will bring the total of conferred citizens to 122,000 people.
