Arson attack on Donegal hotel which was to become direct provision for asylum seekers

Gardai believe that a blaze that badly damaged the Caiseal Mara Hotel on Foyle Street in Moville, Co. Donegal, was the result of an arson attack.

Locals say that the fire was started to prevent the building from becoming a direct provision centre for asylum seekers such as migrants.

The premises sustained a great deal of damage in the fire last night.

A number of asylum seekers were due to take residence at the hotel in the coming weeks.
