Last night, the mother of a youngster in critical need of immediate spinal surgery attacked the government for neglecting her son. Simon Harris, the Taoiseach, was tagged in a video that went viral in February showing Harvey Sherratt crying in agony as a result of severe scoliosis, reports The Mirror.
However, this week his mother Gillian discovered, much to her dismay, that he had been taken off the waiting list. She angrily addressed the Taoiseach, saying, “You say you care, but your actions say anything but.”
Due to his severe scoliosis, little Harvey Sherratt is now unable to sit in his wheelchair and has trouble breathing. A year and a half ago, the eight-year-old’s scheduled spinal surgery was postponed after he was removed from the waiting list, reports The Mirror.
Concerns about unapproved spring devices being used in spinal surgery led Children’s Health Ireland to submit Connor Green to the Irish Medical Council, which resulted in his ceasing operations in April 2023 and placing him on voluntary leave in September 2023.
Since then, Clondalkin, Dublin, residents Gillian Sherratt and Stephen Morrisson, Harvey’s parents, have relentlessly advocated for the necessary treatment. Gillian posted a devastating video of Harvey in apparent pain in February, reports The Mirror.
