The president of the ASTI Deirdre Mac Donald has called on the Minister for Education to reward Junior Certificate students with a State certificate.
Mac Donald’s call comes after the Government announced that all Junior Certificate exams were cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
According to RTÉ News, Mac Donald said that the Department of Education should issue the certificate to acknowledge students for their participation in the three year junior cycle.
It is understood the Government plan to replace this year’s Junior Certificate with school based assessments next year.
