AstraZeneca’s CEO Pascal Soriot was paid a whopping €18 million last year

Last year, Pascal Soriot’s company was drafted in for the fight against COVID-19. He took home 18 million euro for his troubles.

The head of the pharmaceutical company, Pascal Soriot, has seen a remarkable change in the company since he joined AstraZeneca in 2012.

The French-trained vet helped reinvigorate the company’s reputation for research and development and managed to stop a $118 billion takeover effort by rival Pfizer.

AstraZeneca, which has committed to manufacturing 1 billion doses for low to middle-income countries, is the only company that sells its COVID-19 vaccine on a non-profit basis.

However, that didn’t stop the CEO from pocketing some €18 million.
