The head of the pharmaceutical company, Pascal Soriot, has seen a remarkable change in the company since he joined AstraZeneca in 2012.
The French-trained vet helped reinvigorate the company’s reputation for research and development and managed to stop a $118 billion takeover effort by rival Pfizer.
AstraZeneca, which has committed to manufacturing 1 billion doses for low to middle-income countries, is the only company that sells its COVID-19 vaccine on a non-profit basis.
However, that didn’t stop the CEO from pocketing some €18 million.
