Asylum seekers left homeless because of Government failures may be entitled to substantial compensation following court ruling

Asylum seekers left homeless because of Government failures may be entitled to substantial compensation following a court ruling.

The ruling follows a case brought on by an Afghan man who was given no accommodation when he arrived in Ireland, and was reportedly forced to beg on the streets to survive.

The High Court ruling specifies that the failure of the minister for integration to provide suitable accommodation was unlawful.

Hundreds of other people in similar situations may now also be able to make similar claims, and might obtain hefty payouts from the Irish Government.
