At least four people have died and 120 injured by a massive earthquake that hit Turkey and Greece.
The Turkish city of Izmir was near the quake’s epicentre and suffered the most serious effects. Twenty buildings were destroyed and hundreds more damaged according to Balkan Insight. Major rescue operations are underway in the city and surrounding region, which is home to some 4.3 million people.
Across Turkey’s Aegean region the earthquake was felt, as well as on many Greek islands and in the capital Athens.
