At least 14 people dead and no fewer than 400 injured following earthquake that struck Turkey and Greece today




Fourteen people are confirmed dead, and no fewer than 400 injured, following an earthquake that struck Turkey and Greece earlier today.

The quake measured 7 in the Richter Scale, and was felt as far as Bulgaria. The epicentre was pinpointed to be in the Aegean Sea, about 11 miles (17 km) off the coast of Turkey’s Izmir province, at a depth of 10 miles (16km).

The seism has caused major damage in Turkey, and sparked a tsunami warning in Greece.

Rescue efforts are underway.
