If you happen to be worried about the unhealthy side effects of drinking a glass of your favorite vino everyday, you may not need to worry any longer as researchers have found that a glass of the RED stuff everyday can be as beneficial as spending a couple of hours at the gym.
According to the recent study conducted by scientists at the University of Alberta, Canada, red wine contains a healthy compound caled resveratrol, which can apparently improve physical performance, muscle strength and help maintain a healthy heart. The leading researcher, Jason Dyck, behind the study told Science Daily: “We were excited when we saw that resveratrol showed results similar to what you would see from extensive endurance exercise training”. “I think resveratrol could help patient populations who want to exercise but are physically incapable. Resveratrol could mimic exercise for them or improve the benefits of the modest amount of exercise that they can do”.
Dr Dyck added: “It is very satisfying to progress from basic research in a lab to testing in people, in a short period of time.”
It seems a glass a day isn’t as bad for you as may think.
