A 27-yr-old Irish man, identified by the Australian court only by his initials “E.L.” has been sentenced to 50 hours of unpaid community service, fined $450 and banned from entry to Paddy’s Shenanigans Irish Bar for 12 months.

According to the Irish Mirror, E.L. attempted to fight multiple Airlie Beach pub patrons while out celebrating his 27th birthday in Queensland, Australia on Saturday, August 7, resulting in charges for public nuisance, failure to leave licensed premises and obstructing police.

E.L.’s defence solicitor, Elizabeth Smith told the court her client was a qualified carpenter who had been in Australia for two years on a working holiday visa, most recently living and working at Bowen.

She told the court that E.L was on a four-day break from work when he “tied one on” to the point he could not remember the events leading up to his arrest. E.L accepted the allegations and pleaded guilty to all charges.

Magistrate James Morton sentenced him to 50 hours of unpaid community service, fined him $450, and banned him from Paddy’s Bar for 12 months, saying: “Take your stupid Irishness and head to another Irish place”.
No convictions were recorded.
