It’s been one of the most destructive, horrific and shocking starts to the new year in Australia’s relatively short history.
Temperatures hit 48c before the weekend, and with changeable winds, bushfires continued to rage out-of-control.
However slightly cooler temperatures have allowed authorities to assess what has happened and even prepare for more to come.
It’s understood that over 200 fires are still raging across the country. The next danger zone day is Thursday where temperatures are set to soar again.
