Australian lifeguard starts her career by rescuing a kangaroo that had gotten caught up in rough surf

A lifeguard in Australia had a unique first recue on a beach in Australia when she saved a kangaroo that had gotten caught in rough surf and couldn’t get back to the shore.

According to UPI, it was only Lillian Bee Young’s fourth day as a lifeguard at Iluka, inside Bundjalung National Park on the north coast of New South Wales.  She said that she was sitting with her workmate Carissa when they saw a kangaroo jump off the rocks and into the rough surf.

She explained that it looked as if the kangaroo was trying to avoid some fishermen and ended up in the water as a result but was having problems getting back into shore.

She paddled out to the kangaroo on her rescue board and guided the marsupial back into shore to the sounds of clapping and cheering from onlookers.
