Based on information from a police officer accused of their murder, Australian police have discovered the remains of a TV presenter and his partner, a flight attendant, in a remote location outside of Sydney, reports RTE.

The finding puts an end to a highly publicised search that lasted nearly a week for the bodies of entertainment writer Jesse Baird, 26, and flight attendant Luke Davies, 29.

A 28-year-old police officer who was in a relationship with Mr. Baird in the past has been accused with two murders.

“We are very confident we have located Luke and Jesse,” said the head of New South Wales police Karen Webb, reports RTE.

“This information did come with the assistance of the accused,” Ms Webb added, reports RTE.

It is believed by the police that the two were shot in a major Sydney residence, after which they were placed into surfboard bags and driven to a remote site around two hours away from the city.

Ballistics analysis revealed that the projectile recovered from the flat was identical to one issued by the police. Subsequently, the firearm was discovered within a police station safe, reports RTE.
