The search for missing footballer Emiliano Sala has been officially called off, after no trace was found of him or the small aircraft he was a passenger on.
It is believed that the aircraft came down somewhere in the English Channel.
Sala was en route to Cardiff in the UK after signing a multi-million contract with the Cardiff City team.
Search teams have said that there is ‘no hope’ of finding Sala and the aircraft’s pilot alive.
It is understood search and rescue teams searched an area of 1,700sq miles a number of times over the past three days and have found no signs of life or the plane’s wreckage.
