A 20-mth-old girl has died after being hit on the head by hailstones during a severe storm in northeastern Spain, local authorities said.
The hail hit the child’s head and she sadly didn’t survive, Carme Vall, a councillor from the Catalan town of La Bisbal de l’Emporda, told radio station RAC1 in Barcelona.
“The hail only fell for ten minutes, but it was ten minutes of terror,” she said.
Fist-sized hailstones with a diameter of up to 10 cm fell on the town of La Bisbal d’Emporda.
The flood caused injuries, mostly broken bones and bruises, to about 50 other people, Catalan public broadcaster TV3 reports.
