Tulsi Gabbard was once a darling of the U.S’ Democratic Party and a rising star hailed and endorsed by Barack Obama and the talking heads of the mainstream media.
A young, intelligent woman of colour, a war veteran and a serving officer in the military she ticked all the boxes. On Tuesday however, the former Presidential candidate announced she was leaving the Democratic Party stating:
“I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party. It’s now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoking anti-white racism, who actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms enshrined in our Constitution,”
The former Congresswoman from Hawaii went on to criticise the Democrats for their support of open borders and their anti-police rhetoric.
Gabard became an enemy of the Democratic establishment in 2016 after she visited Syria and spoke out against a potential regime change war.
Hillary Clinton quickly moved to smear her as a “Russian asset” and since then the media have relentlessly attacked the war veteran.
