Baldness can be a thing of the past as hair can now be frozen and stored for the future

Worried about going bald? Scientists have the answer now as a license have been given for the creation of a Hair Bank in the UK.

According to the Daily Mail, a company called HairClone is removing hair follicles from clients. These follicles can then be placed in a storage facility and frozen. When the client then begins to lose their hair some years later, they can go back to HairClone and have the frozen follicles injected into their scalp to encourage their hair to grow back.

The procedure for taking the follicles for storage involves removing a small piece of flesh from the back of the head. It is expected that the procedure will cost around €2000 with some extra costs for injections and has been described as an “insurance policy” against aging.

According to the Daily Mail, the Director of the facility said ‘We are contacted every day by people concerned about hair loss, and who are asking when the banking system will be ready.’

This procedure is different to other methods of improving baldness, such as hair transplants which involve removing hair from one part of the scalp and putting it into another. With HairClone, the hair stored can be multiplied.

It is reported that the procedure has not yet been carried out on a client but that the company is now ready to start saving hair in its bank.
