Bank Holiday Highs: Forecasters say sunshine and high temperatures of 26C are expected this weekend

It will be a glorious Bank Holiday weekend for some people who around the country this weekend as temperatures are expected to reach a high of 26C.

The return of the good spell will see the vast majority of Ireland experience some glorious sunshine and higher than normal temperatures over the next three days.

Although the best of the weather is expected in Leinster and Munster, Met Eireann say parts of Connacht and Ulster will see higher than average temperatures throughout the weekend.

It is expected that the best of the weather will come on Sunday as the vast majority of Leinster and Munster will experience prolonged spells of sunshine with temperatures expected to reach the low to mid twenties.

It will be slightly cloudier further North and temperatures will be slightly cooler in the West, but it is expected some spells of sunshine will occur throughout the day.

Meanwhile today Saturday will see a full start to the morning but the cloud cover is expected to move further East later in the day, making way for some sunshine.

Temperatures on Saturday are expected to reach between 19 and 23C.
