Bank of Ireland issues a warning to customers as phishing text message scam is doing the rounds




Bank of Ireland have issued a warning to customers following reports of a phishing scam.

It is understood the warning comes after a number of customers received SMS messages telling them that their account has been frozen and that they must validate their information by following instructions on fake website linked in the message.

In a tweet warning its customers Bank of Ireland said: “We are aware of a phishing/fradulent SMS which has been sent.”

“Bank of Ireland would never send an SMS asking you to disclose any of your personal information.”

“Please delete this SMS.”

It is believed that the bank were made aware of the scam after a number of customers received the fake message.
