In a triumph for Irish progressives a man has taken up residency in the Dochas Centre Women’s Prison, which is part of the larger Mountjoy Prison.
The Sunday World revealed in an exclusive that “transitioning” prisoner, who is convicted of 10 counts of sexual assault and one count of cruelty against a child, enjoys round the clock protection status and the accompaniment of two prison officers, at the taxpayer’s expense of course.
As reported previously by The Liberal, in the UK the imprisonment of individuals according to the gender they identify themselves as is already well established.
Last year, Karen White, a man who identifies as female and was jailed in a women’s prison in England, admitted to sexually assaulting two women prisoners and to have previously raped two other women.
He was jailed amongst women despite the fact that he too was only “transitioning” meaning his testicles and penis had not yet been surgically mutilated to imitate an artificial vagina as is the case with the unnamed prisoner jailed in Dochas.
