Bank of Ireland warns its customers of text scam that tries to get your bank details




Customers of Bank of Ireland and people in general have been warned of a major text scam that tries to access people’s banking details.

It’s understood the warning comes after a number of customers received SMS messages telling them that their account has been frozen and that they must validate their information by following instructions on fake website linked in the message.

In a tweet warning its customers Bank of Ireland said: “We are aware of a phishing/fraudulent SMS which has been sent.”

“Bank of Ireland would never send an SMS asking you to disclose any of your personal information.”

“Please delete this SMS.”

It is believed that the bank were made aware of the scam after a number of customers received the fake message.

People are asked to share this information with their friends, especially their elderly friends and family.
