Police in the UK have found themselves releasing an original piece of CCTV footage, showing the backside of a thief instead of their face.
According to the Metro, two men were in the act of stealing tools from a van when one noticed a few witnesses and decided to take unusual action by mooning them out of his getaway car.
It’s thought that the thieves are part of a larger group which has targeted groups of traders in the last few weeks. Several pieces of CCTV footage have been released, showing a number of other similar crimes.
Police are hoping that the “mooning” footage will attract the attention of the public and lead to the thief being recognised and apprehended.
Commenting on the footage, Detective Inspector Stew Lewis said that the force were putting the footage out there so that it would be widely shared, but that the crimes themselves are no laughing matter, with crowbars and metal batons being used during some of the thefts.
