Russia accused of purposely burning gas that it cannot sell to Europe as prices begin to rise

At a time where Europe struggles to fill its gas reserves for winter, and costs continue to skyrocket out of control, It is believed that Russia is burning its natural gas as it has no-where else to sell it.

According to analysis shared and reported by BBC News. “A plant, near the border with Finland, is burning an estimated $10m (£8.4m) worth of gas every day. The first signs that something was awry came from Finnish citizens over the nearby border who spotted a large flame on the horizon earlier this summer.”

The gas being burned would previously have been exported to country’s such as Germany before war in Ukraine began and sanctions were implemented.

It has led to deep concern being expressed by Scientists who say the large volumes of carbon dioxide and soot it is creating, could exacerbate the melting of Arctic ice.
