Batten down the hatches – Hurricane Ophelia is on steady course to hit Ireland tomorrow

Hurricane Ophelia maintains a steady course towards Ireland and is due to hit the West court from tea time tomorrow evening with winds of up to 130klm to strike from 8pm.

Storm-force winds and high seas are expected when the weather system slams onto Ireland’s landmass, and citizens are advised to exercise extreme caution while outside.

Conditions will remain relatively settled and mild throughout Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures expected to hit 20C at times, and occasional widespread showers.
