TV presenter Baz Ashmawy almost teared up on the Late Late Show describing how he was accosted on the street by concerned Irish citizens who were demanding to know why he was helping to build six houses for Ukrainians but apparently ignoring the thousands of Irish people who are homeless, on the brink of homelessness or unable to get onto the property ladder.
Ashmawy said that he was mostly concerned and upset for the people who were helping to build the houses for the Ukrainians living in Ireland rather than for himself.
Meanwhile, many on social media have claimed that RTE used Ashmawy and his show DIY SOS to push an agenda. Some concerned people are saying that the six houses should have been built to house Irish people are left sleeping in shop doorways, park benches and endless hotel rooms around the country.
