Motorists are being advised to proceed with caution this morning as widespread frost is expected following freezing temperatures overnight.
The advice comes after Met Eireann yellow snow-ice warning for for counties Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Longford, Louth and all of Connacht.
Met Éireann say the warning which came into effect at midnight and will remain in place until midday Wednesday, comes as some snowfall and wintery showers are expected on higher ground.
Although the national forecaster say frost and icy patches could occur on lower ground.
