Better communication would have prevented arson attack, says Simon Harris

According to Simon Harris, there would have been “a blind bit of difference” in stopping the fire at the former tavern in east Dublin if there had been greater communication from the government, reports Breaking News.

There is a “very worrying trend,” according to the minister of further and higher education, whereby empty buildings are intentionally set on fire.

On New Year’s Eve, a former tavern in Ringsend was set on fire amid rumours that it might be converted into an immigrant housing facility. Since then, officials have stated that it was intended for homeless persons, reports Breaking News.

Days before Christmas, a suspected fire attack occurred at a closed hotel in Rosscahill, County Galway, which was supposed to host asylum seekers.
