Beware: Speed vans are back in action today at 24-yr-hour stoppage demanding more pay to catch motorists speeding

They’re the reason you get flashed by people coming towards you, the country nod of respect to their fellow motorists not to get a fine for being a few klms over the speed limit.

Well you better make sure you’re back fully alert and going the legal limit or under today as GoSafe’s speed van operators are back working today after a strike day yesterday.

Some 35 staff members who work at the company went on a strike from 6am on Saturday morning until 6am this morning after a dispute has arisen over pay and working conditions.

It’s understood that GoSafe staff are demanding much higher pay for sitting in their van all day catching motorists who are speeding.

Union representatives of GoSafe staff said that they had been left with no option but to undertake strike action as management have failed to address health and safety concerns raised by staff.

Staff working at the company say they are working in unrealistic conditions which include lengthy shifts and the lack of toilet facilities.

It’s not yet known what agreement can be made but reps say that there is no end in sight.
