Gardaí in Dublin have confirmed that a man has sadly died after getting into difficulties whilst swimming in Sandycove, this afternoon.
It is understood the man aged in his 50s got into difficulties whilst swimming at the popular Forty Foot spot.
Gardaí say a lifeboat from the Dún Laoghaire RNLI and a rescue Irish Coast Guard helicopter 116 were called in to attend the scene.
The man was rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital via ambulance, however he was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival.
