RTE News released footage showing how thieves are using a high-tech technique to steal cars, especially in Dublin.
Robbers used relay systems that can pick up the code signal from a car remote control fob – which was inside the house at the time.
The most common cars in danger are those that have “Keyless Go” – originally Jaguar, Mercedes and BMW but it’s far more common in most modern cars.
According to RTE News, the device amplifies the signal from within the house which then boosts the signal and unlocks the car which can be some considerable distance away.
