The iconic Bewley’s Cafe in Dublin has announced its permanent closure, with the loss of 110 jobs.
Representatives for the business said that a combination of declining profits during the pandemic plus exorbitant rent (which amounts to about 30% of the total sales, according to the Irish Mirror) is to blame for the closure.
Bewley’s had been a feature of Dublin’s Grafton St. for over 100 years.
