The iconic establishment closed its doors in February this year to facilitate heavy restoration works, in an effort to reduce losses.
It emerged that the managing company lost €3.9m last year before tax, compared to a pre-tax profit of €2.7m in 2013. It is understood the massive difference stems from the astronomical lease costs.
It is expected that the newly refurbished Bewley’s cafe will reopen its doors around February-March of next year, about six months later than originally planned.
