Joe Biden has announced an additional $800 million in military aid to Ukraine and a plan to bring Ukrainian refugees to the United States.
The additional funding sends “an unmistakeable message to Putin: He will never succeed in dominating and occupying all of Ukraine”, Biden said from the White House.
Biden’s announcement came as Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the blockade of a steel plant where Ukrainian troops are holding out in the southeastern city of Mariupol.
The US president also introduced the United for Ukraine humanitarian program to supplement existing legal avenues for Ukrainians to obtain immigrant visas and refugee processing.
Some social media users claim that such aid could actually extend the war and possibly even lose more Ukrainian soldiers’ lives.
