There’s no end in sight for the cold spell, as the national forecaster has predicted more snow and widespread, severe frost over the next 48 hours

Ireland woke up to a frosty and freezing morning today, though the winter sun is shining in many places this afternoon.

Temperatures are set to remain in single digits for the entire day today, sinking to -3C after dark.

The outlook is for a slight rise in temperatures by Monday.
