The decent people of Achill have had their concerns listened to as government sources have confirmed that Achill Head Hotel in Mayo will not be used to house migrants, after several protests at the site in recent weeks.
In major protests over the last number of weeks, Achill residents said that the proposed asylum centre has poor conditions for migrants and it wouldn’t be fair on them placing them there.
The hotel was earmarked to ‘temporarily’ house thirteen migrants, with plans to bring in an additional 38 migrants over the coming weeks.
