The man’s body was discovered on waste ground at Cherry Orchard parade early this morning by a member of the public.
It is understood that the body remains at the scene as the investigation is being carried out.
Gardai were notified when the discovery was made by an individual in the area at about 6:30am this morning.
According to reports a shot gun was found very close by on the scene.
The scene has been cordoned off and Gardai will be carrying out a thorough investigation.
The office of the State Pathologist has been notified of the incident.
