Body of elderly woman found in her home months after she passed away

imageThe body of an elderly woman has been found in her home months after she passed away. The decomposed body of the 84-year-old woman was discovered in Co Wexford by Gardaí at around 9:30pm last night. The woman who is originally from Foulksmills, New Ross, has been named as Bridget Crosbie.

The relatives of Ms Crosbie contacted Wexford Garda Station after they did not receive a telephone call from the elderly lady for a number or months. It is believed that Ms Crosbie was a quiet woman who has very reclusive.

A post mortem of the body will be carried out early next week at University Hospital Waterford. Foul play is not suspected.

Wexford Mayor Ger Carthy has extended his sympathies to the family. “It’s devastating and very unfortunate that we find ourselves in this situation once again,” said Mr Carthy. “I suppose it is, in one way, a sign of the type of society that we live in, but you can’t blame the people of the town in this case because she chose to lead a reclusive life”he added.
