An 8-year-old boy reportedly jumped to his death from a ninth floor apartment window after suffering years of alleged abuse from his parents.
According to The Mirror newspaper, the young boy named as Anton, died after jumping from the window at an apartment building in Enerhodar, Southern Ukraine, last month.
It is reported that little Anton decided to take his own life after his parents allegedly yelled and beat him after he ripped his clothes.
The Mirror reports that one eyewitness named as Zhanna, heard the incident unfold before seeing little Anton’s body lying on the street below.
Zhanna told reporters tharmt she heard Anton’s parents yell at him and beat him for ripping clothes.
The shocked witness who immediately called for an ambulance after discovering his body, also told reporters that she heard a child’s footsteps before hearing a loud thud just seconds later.
Although a number of attempts were made to save Anton’s life he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Anton’s death has now led to police to launch a criminal investigation against his parents who accused of failing to fulfil parental duties.
It is reported that the pair who have fled town could face up to five years behind bars if they are found guilty.
