Brave: Helen O’Driscoll spoke compassionately about the deaths of her three sons

In an emotional interview, Helen O’Driscoll, the mother of the three boys who died last year in Charleville, Co. Cork, spoke bravely about her eldest son murdering her young twin boys.

Jonathan had severe mental issues, including depressions, paranoia and schizophrenia. He murdered his two 9-yr-old twin bothers, Paddy and Thomas, and then hung himself.

Helen spoke about her faith in God, her forgiveness towards Jonathan and her love for all her four dead children.

The family are members of the travelling community, and Helen spoke about the fact her children are high in Heaven with her parents and their other sibling. She want on to speak about how mental health affects people and that Jonathan wouldn’t have dreamt of touching a hair on his brothers heads if he had continued to take his medication. She urged anyone with mental problems to reach out for help and continue to take their medication, even when they think they don’t need it anymore.

Helen said her faith in God has kept her going, and her two remaining children and family also.
