15 leading Irish charities have issued a demand for the Government to recall the Dáil to deal with the current refugee crisis.
The agencies have released statements to say that the Coalition has “failed to show leadership” on the crisis.
Edel McGinley from the Migrant Rights Centre Ireland said: “What we are asking the government to do is to step up and show leadership in relation to this issue that they haven’t shown a great leadership so far.
“We are asking for an immediate recall of the Dáil.
“We want to see a significant increase to the numbers of people who are seeking protection in Ireland and that the process for resettlement and relocation is accelerated.”
