BREAKING: 200-yr-old Thatch pub in Drogheda on fire again – arson suspected

This truly is a shocking and very disturbing sight yet again.

Fire services in Drogheda, Co. Louth are tackling a historic pub known locally as “The Thatch” tonight from a suspected arson attack.

The 200-yr-old building has been restored twice after a five year campaign was undertaken to bring the pub back to its former glory.

Emergency personnel will examine the structural damage tomorrow. Locals are saying that this is yet again another arson attack.

Speaking about a recent arson attack on “The Thatch”, local man Richard Whyte told The Liberal:
“The town is outraged, people can’t believe that someone would do such an atrocious thing for no reason whatsoever.”

Anyone with information can contact the Drogheda garda station or the Confidential Line on 1800-66-61-11.
